Compact Exercise Equipment for Small Spaces

By April 16, 2019 No Comments

Compact exercise equipment for small spaces, can be helpful for staying motivated to workout. Travel workout equipment I would put into the same category as compact, as I like to think of equipment small enough to fit into a suitcase.

Just because exercise equipment is compact or travel size doesn’t make it any less effective. Bodyweight exercises alone can provide an effective workout. A small piece of equipment can help to intensify a simple bodyweight exercise.

Exercise Equipment for Small Spaces

There really is so much to choose from but my top three pieces of compact exercise equipment for small spaces would be as follows:

Stability Ball – Not only can this double as a desk chair. It is an a great choice for core exercises. Sit-ups, back extensions and glute raises, can all be made that little bit more challenging on one of these.

TRX – Easy to attach to the back of a closed door. These are excellent for squats, lunges, push ups and tricep dips.

Kinesis Machine – Now this is a bit more on the pricey side. Think of it like a fancy cable machine. It sits flush against your wall and can provide load without any weights clanking around.

With these three pieces of compact exercise equipment you can have a challenging workout easily in a small space. But if you are planning on travelling, then you might need some smaller options.

Travel Exercise Equipment

When you travel you need everything to fit into a suitcase. So your exercise equipment needs to be small enough to go in there too right!

While a little bit more limited in your range of choices, here are my top three:

Resistance Bands – these come in a range of styles and sizes. I’m talking about the ones that are more stretchy and elastic. You can put them around your knees or ankles to do crab walks and clams to target your glutes.

Gliding discs – anything that adds instability always makes your workout much more difficult. Gliding disk are great for lunge variations, mountain climbers, sliding pushups and much more!

TRX – yes I know I mentioned this in the exercise equipment for small spaces. But hey, if you can take a piece of equipment you already have with you on holiday then great! Depending on whether or not weight is an issue, a TRX is an excellent choice for being able to hang from a tree or an exposed beam at your holiday rental. Or again, off the back of a closed door. You can then take your home workout with you.

Provides an extra challenge on your regular workouts and can sometimes be even more challenging than lifting weights in the gym. Sometimes if you can been just doing the same workout every week, throwing in some small changes that gets different muscles working can kick you out of your training plateau.

Some compact exercise equipment can double as travel exercise equipment and this is handy if money is an issue. So make sure you look at what you already have before you go buying more gear.
